Love is...this face!

Is this a smile little buddy?

Yesterday was a good day at the nicu! Mckenna finally seems like she is starting to get more stable. They have put her on steriods and special breathing treatments that are supposed to strengthen and help her lungs. It has been a pretty hard week for her, but the last couple days her lungs finally seem to be improving. Her ventilator settings are now starting to be decreased, and yesterday she was satting well on 23-30 percent oxygen, which is really good for her. She also got to do some snuggle time with mom and do kangaroo care after not being able to do it for awhile because of her lungs. Little brother is doing great (knock on wood!}. He is now off the cpap and just on nasal cannula prongs! They also switched his feedings from continuos to being run over an 1 1/2 with and 1 1/2 break in between. Yesterday he also got to try some non-nutritive sucking for the first time!! I was so excited! Non-nutritive sucking is where i pump, and then put him up to my breast just to try to see if he has any interest in sucking. He seemed pretty confused at first, but did suck a little after time. Yesterday was such a good day for both of our kids, we are so proud of all they are doing! Its funny because with your kids in the nicu you get so excited for every success and good day. We are looking forward to many more..
